About us

We are a firm of solicitors based in Brighton but covering the whole of the South East of the United Kingdom including London.

The firm has long and deep experience in all aspects of probate and intestacy going back over 20 years. Although many of our clients come from the South East of England, so that meetings are easier, we act for client’s in probate matters all over the world.

We often receive instructions from individuals where a member of the family has died in the United Kingdom and we take over all aspects of the executors or the administrators responsibilities including immediately going to the property, collecting items from the hospital, registering the death and making all funeral arrangements. In many cases that level of work will not be needed because a member of our firm will work with the executors, often close members of the family, to deal with all of this work together. Sometimes members of the family wish to carry out some of the work themselves, such as registering the death, making the funeral arrangements and preparing inventories but where, for whatever reason, a family member does not want to do that then we are ready and willing to carry out that vital work.

It is probably also worthwhile to indicate that we have a great deal of experience in contested probates. One always hopes that a probate or an intestacy will proceed quickly and easily but sometimes that is not the case and disputes arise. The two partners in the firm Martin Cray and Martin Mitten have dealt with a number of contested probate cases, firstly to try and settle them on an amicable basis, as between the members of the family but otherwise to either commence proceedings at Court or defend proceedings at Court to resolve it by way of an Order of the Court.

We are a friendly efficient firm of solicitors who put an emphasis on responding quickly to your instructions.
